Three Fabulous Tips on Slashing
the Wedding Bill

So, you want to get married but your parents won't sell their house to fund the wedding of your dreams? Not to worry, there truly are simple, relatively painless ways to cut expenses without having to tie the knot in the courthouse wearing your old prom dress!

Resist the urge to impress everyone else. While the opulence of some weddings can leave you with a huge case of envy, I'd say the most memorable weddings I've attended haven't been the most extravagant ones, but rather the most unique or most personal ones.

One of the quickest ways to cut costs is to cut the guest list. Yes, initially it may seem daunting. But, will it truly matter 5 years from now if most (or any) of your co-workers were at your wedding? Is it really expected that your mother's second cousin twice removed be present? Cut the list to those who truly matter most in your life and who you can't imagine getting wed without their presence. Then, is there is room to stretch - stretch lightly.

Next, shift your wedding schedule and try for the off-season or a week day. I'd personally avoid bad weather months though just because a tornado over your wedding tent would really be pretty bad. But, avoid the "wedding months" of June through September (and for sure Valentine's Day...) and you may find a fantastic deal. Friday evening or Sunday afternoons can also be a great way to cut the costs of Saturday-wedding costs.

Rent, rent, rent! Grooms and their attendants rent their tuxedos - why not look for more ways to rent what you need verses buying it. There are a number of shops that rent wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses and so on. Linens, table settings, decorations and floral settings can also be rented for a fraction of the cost to buy them.

Your big day is supposed to be one of the most memorable of your life. Yet, the memories are in the people you are surrounded by, your brand new spouse and the beginning of a beautiful future together. Cutting a few corners to make the day special with some of the overwhelming cost can assist you in achieving your Cinderella moment without breaking the bank!
